Get Your Big Adidas Off My Mom's Table Man...
You have no idea what a momentous occasion this is, soul kids. My homie Scheme and I have been discussing the possibility of a collaboration for over a year now, and I'll be damned...we finally made it happen.
For those of you who need to be formally introduced, Scheme is the mastermind behind Attorney Street, easily one of my favorite destinations on the internets. Additionally, he's part of the phenomenal Old Money Crew with Cambridge and Konrad. Perhaps you caught their show with The Cool Kids earlier this year, or heard about them via Discobelle, The Fast Life, the culture of me, or any of the other spots who are righteously pimpin' their sounds.
Apparently the hype hasn't gone to his head, because Scheme was good enough to send me this fly Old Money mix to drop as a Souled On exclusive. I couldn't possibly describe the content and flava any better than the man himself: "Now it's def not filled with the kind of rare gems you post on the reg (you'll find the joints to be quite familiar) but it's definitely an enjoyable feel good mix you can play for ya momma'nems and it'll be on and crackin."
All props due to these guys...you crazy kids will have somethin' fresh to serve up next to the ribs and potato salad at the last backyard BBQ you host in '08. Even if your people are crazy and drunk as hell, we all know that when the needle drops, the bullshit stops...
Back soon. Play nice, children...Scholar

Never knew of Stevie ever covering Carl Carlton's Bad Mama Jama?
Gonna have to hear that when it's finished loading...
Scholar, the track list is very reminicient of my set list back in the disco friday days at my club(R.I.P.) albeit without the odd, rose royce, cerrone or timex social club number thrown in for good measure. Who's been talking?!
ohh happy days.
Any mix with Chaka Khan and "Erotic City" is jus beggin' ta get played.
Unfortunately too big a file for my slow comms, but just wanted to say what an awesome playlist anyway. Like basenji I'm a fan of Chaka Khan and feel much the same about any playlist with a track or two of hers in it. Like megablog I,m wasn't in the know about Stevie and Bad Mama Jamma either but, if Stevie puts his musical tools and talents to it, then I'm sure it will be something well worth the listen.
BTW way I remember when boom boxes were as big as the one below.... man what fantastic days those were!
good looks Scholar, and good luck with this new thing!
Scholar ~ The Old Money Mix was absolutely DOPE! Every now and then we need to go back for some old time flava. What a way to start off my weekend. Now I'm good and hyped!
Much gratitude to your man Scheme and much love for Souled On.
Love ya babe,
PK
Cheryl Lynn's Encore.
That is 'nuff said right THERE. Sweet blessed Buddha. I'm lovin' it.
The only way you could top this is by loading up the entire Vanity 6 album. (hint hint)

That seriously is NOT Stevie Wonder doing "Bad Mamma Jamma." That's Carl Carlton. Recognize.
@ anon - just seeing this and shiiiet i just googled the hell out the situation and found all types of ish talkin' about stevie had a version, or didn't, and carl carlton's vocal similarities and how his label at first had him call himself "little carl" because stevie used to call himself "little stevie" and reh reh reh blahzay blah...
point being - you might be right. or might not. but you might be. haha..i'll ask stevie next time he's over for poker.
either way, glad heads enjoyed/are enjoying the mix. and biggups to scholar for being one of the coolest cats in the hemisphere.
This is ALL OF THAT and a bag of chips ;)
Oh but one thing - Shes a Bad Mamma Jamma is Carl Carlton, not Stevie
